Air Volume Flow Calculator

With our air volume flow calculator, you can determine the required outdoor air volume flows in accordance with EN 16798 in just a few seconds – for individual rooms, entire floors or complete buildings. Enter the room dimensions and the total number of people, and automatically receive the fresh air flow, broken down into building-related and person-related shares, as well as the resulting air change rate.

Fast. Precise. Intuitive.

Let our tool support you in planning your ventilation and air-conditioning systems.

EN 16798‑1 replaces the former EN 15251 and is the current basis for assessing indoor air quality. It determines the outdoor air requirement using the additive method: the person-related share covers CO₂ and occupants’ bioeffluents, while the building-related share covers emissions from the building structure and furnishings. Only the sum of both shares gives the outdoor air requirement and enables a more differentiated assessment than the sole use of fixed guideline values.

Functions of the Air Volume Flow Calculator

  • Input of number of occupants, total floor area and room height
  • Selection of the indoor air quality category (I–IV)
  • Selection of the building pollutant category (e.g. low-pollutant)
  • Separate output of building-related and person-related fresh air flow
  • Automatic determination of the air change rate from the room volume
  • Optional data sheet export function for documentation

Note: A building-wide calculation is only possible if the same air quality applies to all rooms. If uses differ, calculate the areas separately.
